TenCate Mirafi® Fascine mattress

TenCate Mirafi® FM woven filter geotextiles are specially engineered filter geotextiles that provide robustness, UV protection and durability in marine and hydraulic applications. Mirafi® FM are manufactured with in-woven loops to facilitate the fabrication of fascine mattress for easy launch and installation. The in-woven loops are strong and spaced at convenient grid intervals to provide tie-up points to attach the fascine material.

Functionalities of Mirafi® FM

Filtration

The equilibrium soil-to-geotextile system that allows for adequate movement of a liquid across the plane of the geotextile to prevent clogging and limit soil loss over the service lifetime of the application.

Reinforcement

The synergistic improvement of a total system’s strength created with a reinforcing geosynthetic (that is good in tension) into a soil and/or aggregate system (that is good in compression but poor in tension) to ensure the stability of structures.

Typical Applications of Mirafi® FM

Breakwaters Protection

TenCate Geotube® and Geocontainer® are used to construct breakwaters as marine structures for shoreline erosion protection. Replaces conventional rock fill.

Groynes Marine Protection

TenCate Geotube® can replace rock or sheet piles in the construction of groynes. Mirafi® woven geotextile prevents erosion around the sides of the groynes.

Protection Dykes

Protection dykes prevent flooding and water damage in confined areas. TenCate Geotube® is also used as containment dykes to retain hydraulic fills.

Pond Capping

TenCate woven geotextiles and fascine mattress are used to provide access on soft, saturated ponds to begin closure with a compacted clay layer or geomembrane.
