Reaching Out to The People of Surigao Del Norte

Super Typhoon Rai, locally named Typhoon Odette in the Philippines swept though the country on December 16, 2021 bringing destruction to central and southern Philippines.

The Category 5 super typhoon left its trail of catastrophic damages in the provinces of Surigao del Norte when it made its first landfall in Siargao Islands. The province was placed under a state of calamity. Tens of thousands were affected and needed life-saving aid.

TenCate Geosynthetics and Arizona Geosynthetics Inc (AGI) organized a joint relief operation in response to the call for aid. Grocery and hygiene items, mineral water and emergency solar lamps were prepared to be distributed to the Municipality of Tubajon and the Municipality of Loreto in Dinagat Islands. The relief items were packed and handed to the Municipal Mayor and his team to be transported to Dinagat Island with the help of Philippine Navy boats.

With movement restrictions due to Covid, TenCate representatives were unfortunately prohibited from entering Mindano. We are grateful and appreciative to our colleagues from Mindanao office who facilitated this joint-relief operation headed by Kenneth Laguitao, Sales Manager of AGI Mindanao and his dedicated team. Thank you for making it possible.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to the joint-relief operation in extending a helping hand to the people of Surigao.
